Alphanumeric
A value containing a combination of letter and number characters.
Archive
The term Archive is in the process of being changed to District. See the definition for District.
AutoCalculate Destruction
An indicator that allows you to set the automatic calculation for destroying your Iron Mountain inventory.
ASCII
American Standard Code for Information Interchange. A simple text file is commonly referred to as an ASCII file.
Begins
A type of search that looks to match one string to the beginning of another.
Browse
A table that provides the ability to view a list of items. When the list is too long to display all items at once, navigation links will be present to page back and forth through the list.
Cache
The area of memory that a program will reserve for its own operation.
Compression
Many files can be compressed or zipped so that they are physically smaller in size. This is advantageous because you will be able to download the file much faster. Software such as WinZip or PKZip is typically required to decompress or unzip a compressed file, although in some cases you may receive a special "self-extracting" compressed file that does not require any additional software to open.
Cookie
A small text file stored on the local drive, used to remember information during a web session. The use of cookies overcomes the restrictions of a stateless environment.
Create Date
Customer-defined date.
CSV
Comma-separated value. A way of recording database fields in text format; each field is followed by a comma.
Default Order Type
The order type (retrieval, pickups, supplies, permanent withdrawal) that SafeKeeperPLUS.com will automatically select as your order type from the Enter Order page.
Destruction Type
A status indicator that marks inventory for destruction upon a specified condition, such as after a legal waiting period has expired, or after a certain number of years following a tax audit.
District
Replaces the term Archive. The Iron Mountain warehouse location where your inventory is stored.
Drop-down List
A screen object that reveals a list of options for selection when the object is clicked.

Eligible
A term that describes the state of an order. In this state an order may be edited to remove items, add items or have any other element changed.
Encryption
Putting data into a secret code so it is unreadable except by authorized users.
Event Date
Customer-defined date.
File Format
The type of files used, i.e., accounting, law, medical, standard, insurance.
File Sequence
An identifier for a file within a box. When data entry is performed for files in a box, SafeKeeperPLUS generates a file number based on the order in which the file was created. For example, the first file in a box has File Sequence 0001. The second has File Sequence 0002, etc.
Hold
Identifies an order for which processing has been temporarily suspended. The order can be edited but it will not be released for delivery until it is made eligible by posting it.
Hold Code
Overrides a pre-set retention schedule for an item or group of items, placing their destruction on hold until further review.
Link / Hyperlink
A section of text that can initiate an event such as posting information or loading a web page. The text will usually be displayed in blue letters like this: This is a hyperlink.
Individually Listed
Describes a client whose files all exist in the SafeKeeperPLUS database as individual items that may be searched, viewed and retrieved with a unique identifier. The Individually Listed Code defines how you want the individual files listed in SafeKeeperPLUS.com, (i.e., listing the contents in the box, to electronically transferring them, keying in the information for customized sheets).
Indicators
Indicators are flags that instruct SafeKeeperPLUS to carry out or avoid a specific process.
JavaScript
A programming language that is interpreted by web browsers.
Numeric
A value containing only number characters.
Order Header
The information contained within an order applicable to the entire order. This information includes customer, department, billing address, delivery information (address and carrier), requestor name and delivery priority.
PopUp Glossary
A small window that displays a glossary definition.
Post
To send information through the Internet.
Primary Request Type
The request type may be either "box" or "file". Select a request type to which you want the system to default automatically when you enter an order.
Prompt
Indicates that something is displayed upon the screen. It may apply to any screen object.
Protocol
An agreed-upon procedure to accomplish a specific task.
Radio Button
A screen object that provides the ability to select among two or more options. It is represented by a small circle and indicates that a selection has been made by placing a dot within the circle.

Record
In a database, a group of fields that make up one complete entry.
Record Code
An alphanumeric code for retention established by the customer and based on the document type. The record code identifies a record type or category within a specific Divison or Department ID.
Request Restriction Indicator
A flag that, when defined as other than None, restricts ordering either to an entire box or to an individual file.
Retention Schedule
Defines the length of time Iron Mountain should keep your records as inventory. The unit you select here defines the period of time (e.g., month, week, year) the inventory is retained.
Three-Level Security Gate
Once you log in to SKP.com with your user name and password, SKP checks to see you have valid access, grants you access to only those divisions/departments permitted by your administrator, and allows functionality based on your User Security settings. If your security settings are incorrect, please contact your administrator first. If he or she is unable to assist you, have them contact Systems Support.
SSL
Secure Sockets Layer; a security measure that encrypts data before transferring it via the Internet. It is designed to provide secure communications on the Internet.
Stateless
Describes the mode in which the web operates. A browser makes a request for data, the server responds and the conversation is complete. The next time the browser makes a request, the server has no way of recognizing it as the same browser.
String
A sequence of letters, digits and symbols which can form words and numbers.
Tool Tip
Short descriptions of clickable objects.
Web Server
A computer that is connected to the Internet and supplies web pages is know as a web server.
Wizard
A detailed process that configures an object step by step.
Zip/Unzip
To compress or de-compress a file using software such as PKZip, ZipIt, gzip, or others.
