These tips are most useful to users who's computer experience is limited to a character based environment or client-server graphical environment. This is not intended as training, but as an effort to avoid common mistakes.

  1. Use the mouse to move around. The web is built as a "point-and-click" environment. Every field and command can be reached with the mouse. Any clickable object will change the form of the mouse pointer to a hand when moving over it.
  2. Hyperlinks are underlined words that can take you to another screen by using a single-click over the hyperlinked word. The text is normally in blue.
  3. Single-click while holding the mouse pointer on the respective object. DO NOT double-click, otherwise the application will process the request twice. This can produce error messages.
  4. Use the TAB key or mouse to move between fill-in fields. The ENTER key will normally submit all the information and produce the next screen.
  5. ToolTips are short descriptions of clickable objects. They are visible when the mouse pointer is held steady over the object. Example: Hold the pointer steady over the "Go Back" button to see its tool tip. Go Back
